Have you ever wondered why children are so full of life, youth and energy.

It’s because of their naturally high levels of human growth hormone (HGH) — our natural fountain of youth.

HGH makes your muscles firm, skin elastic, bones strong and keeps your joints fluid and flexible.

It maximizes lean muscle and minimizes body fat. Think of attractive young people in those health and fitness magazines.

Unfortunately, past the age of 25, our HGH levels begin to diminish rather dramatically . This plunge exposes us to the potential ravages of aging — loose thin skin, age spots, wrinkles, muscle loss, back pain, gray hair, low energy, slower thinking and frustration in the bedroom.

Our drive to take on new challenges and get things done slowly evaporates.

Making the situation worse the stress and “death” hormone “cortisol” –INCREASES as we get older.

It wears you down, zaps your energy, makes bones brittle, tightens your joints and turns muscle into fat, adding that spare tire around your middle. Feels like your rusting away.

While stress is often outside our ability to manage it, quality sleep is under your control. Sleep decreases cortisol and increases HGH naturally without a supplement. Getting quality sleep vastly reduces your risk of heart disease and cancer life’s greatest health fears.

HGH #1 Booster- Adequate Quality Sleep

But not just ANY sleep… the right amount, quality and timing of sleep is crucial.

Your brain releases HGH during sleep to rejuvenate, repair and recover from the wear and tear of the day. A patient told me recently that after restoring his sleep with an oral appliance to arrest his sleep apnea and snoring, he felt like he was reborn at the age of 60. Sleep is an amazing game changer. I see it with nearly every patient I consult and work with.

When you don’t get enough sleep you look and feel TERRIBLE — burned out, stressed, bloated…and…duh — OLDER!

When you go to bed late, get up too early or have interrupted sleep due to insomnia or snoring it completely throws off your biological clock and natural HGH release.

Poor sleep causes the death hormone cortisol to skyrocket causing your body to be worn down even MORE!

That makes you forgetful, stiff, slower, fatter, older and more tired even faster.

The golden rules of sleep:

1. Go to bed at the same time every night, no later than 9-10 p.m. During this time your body produces melatonin which helps you go to and stay asleep.

2. Keep your sleeping area as dark as possible. I highly recommend blackout shades. Shut your bedroom door. Remove all sources of light and electromagnetic energy such as alarm clock displays, night lights, cell phones and avoid TV, phone, computer and tablet screens one hour before bed. Even small amounts of white and blue light promote wakefulness.

3. Lower the temperature of your room to 68-70 degrees.

4. Most of all get AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep. Some people need a little less a few even more. A good rule of thumb is when you are consistently waking up every morning ,without the need for an alarm clock, your getting adequate sleep.

I can read your thoughts. Sounds good but good grief it’s just not possible. I felt the same way for over 30 years. Then I tried it. Oh my gosh what a life-changer.

Try It! Persist ! Sleep equals youth. You’ll soon wake up feeling 10-20 years younger! Being so much more effective in every facet of your life you will live more and accomplish more in a shorter period of time.

Sleep is God.  As Thomas Decker penned in the Elizabethan, “Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together”. I recommend 8 hours of worship every night.
