Dental Implants

Dr. Gillum’s philosophy is that it is always better to do everything possible to preserve a patient’s natural teeth rather than to take drastic measures too soon. However, sometimes that course of action simply is not possible. Some of our patients have gone through an accident or illness that left one or more of their natural teeth severely damaged. In these cases, the best and safest course of action may be to remove those teeth.  Once a tooth has been removed, it is important to replace it as soon as possible. A missing tooth is not just a cosmetic blemish, after all. It can mis-align or unbalance your jaw, causing pain and even further damage. In these circumstances, Dr. Gillum and staff highly recommend dental implants.

Like veneers, dental implants vary widely in quality and appearance. Gillum Dentistry uses only the highest quality implants to restore our patients’ smiles, made from a combination of metal and porcelain.  The body of the implant is titanium. This part is meant to replace the root of your former tooth, and once Dr. Gillum carefully inserts it, it will keep your implant firmly in place. On top of the titanium root is a porcelain cap that closely resembles your own natural teeth. Once an implant is in place, you will be able to chew normally and no one will even know that your new tooth is not natural.

Poor quality or poorly placed implants may break or come lose fairly quickly. Our implants are strong and resilient. With proper care, they will last a lifetime!  If you currently have partial dentures, we can use implants to replace some of your teeth for improved comfort and appearance. Implants can also be used to anchor full sets of dentures and make them easier to wear. Call our office today for more information and to set up a free consultation.

Implant Supported Bridge

Fixed hybrid bridges are restorations supported by 4-6 implants. The restoration is screwed into the implants. Unlike a traditional bridge replacing teeth only, a fixed hybrid compensates for lost bone and gum tissue. This restoration is removable by your dentist.
